Keep slime tightly sealed in its jar when not in use to prevent it from drying.
There is no wrong way to play with slime, but there is a way to play with it so it doesn't stick to you.
This is super important because slime will leave a sticky residue on your hands if they're dirty or sweaty. You also don't want any food or debris getting in your slime. No one likes mold ;(
Pretend it's a hot potato or pizza dough. Whenever you do any "pull back" motions, make sure they're quick. If you do any "pull back" motions slowly, the slime will stick to you. If you try to grab a slime with your entire hand, it will probably stick. To fix this, just make fast squeezing motions with your hands (like your squeezing a stress ball, but really fast).
The warmth from your hands will cause the slime to melt as you're playing with it & the sweat will cause a layer of sticky residue to form on your hands. For this, we recommend only playing with beginner textures!
1. Add 1 tsp borax to EXACTLY 1 cup of warm water.
2. Mix solution until the borax dissolves.
3. Add SMALL AMOUNTS (1 to 1/2 tsp) at a time or LIGHTLY DIP slime in activator.
Store activator in a marked container for future use!
Simple answer: Activator is a solution used to make slime less sticky.
Complex answer: Activator is a solution made of borax and water used to reactivate sticky slime. The basic recipe of every slime is glue and borax. Without borax, glue would just stay glue and never turn into slime. Over time, EVERY slime starts to become sticky or reverts back into a glue-like state. Activator fixes this!
Add activator in small amounts! Knead any lumps out of your slime until it's smooth.
If your slime was in the heat, place it in the fridge to cool down.
Remember to wash your hands. Slime will leave a sticky residue on sweaty/dirty hands.
If it's still sticky, it may need more activator!
Make sure you use EXACTLY 1 CUP of water when you make your activator.
Remember: not all slimes are meant to be holdable and are naturally tacky. Some slimes should be played with on surfaces. Try poking and handling it quickly. Watch this video if you're a visual learner!
Fall out can happen when a slime is too inflated, typically in crunch bombs or slimes with a small slime-to-add-in ratio. When it's over-inflated, there are so many air bubbles that the add-ins have nothing to stick to.
Fall out can also occur when a slime has dried out (died) from being well-loved and frequently played with. This is normal due to the nature of slime.
However, some textures will naturally have fallout; if they do, we always include a note in the product description. If this is the case, make sure you play with in mindfully (slow stretches, don't rip the slime, etc.)!
If it's cold out, your slime may be stiff. Wait until it returns to room temperature or warming it up with your hands will help.
If it's still too hard, you can add some glue or glycerin.
Remember: slime naturally melts over time!
The best choice is to wait for it to melt. You can leave it under the sun or in a warm place. Adding a little glycerin can speed up the process!
Slime has a limited life span, but can last a long time if you care for it.
1. Play with your slime for 10 to 15 minutes a day to keep it from "dying" too soon.
2. Wash your hands before touching slime and use a clean surface. This reduces debris/bacteria and prevents mold from growing.
3. Keep slime tightly closed in its container when not in use to avoid it drying out.
4. Store in a cool, dry place out of the sun.
5. Reactivate it frequently! It's hard to revive completely melted slime.
If a slime is well loved, it may have reached the end of it's life :(
Dead slime symptoms:
It's completely normal for all slimes to eventually dry out because slime is made with glue, and glue will dry out when exposed to air.
Make sure you only play with slime for 10-15 minutes a day and take good care of it (wash your hands & play on clean surfaces) to make it last longer!
Slime can last from a few weeks to a few months, depending on how often you play with it and how well you take care of it. This is normal for all slimes as slime is made with glue, which dries out when exposed to air.
Crunchy slimes or slimes with clay may "die" faster than other types due to their ingredients.
We suggest washing your hands and playing with your slime for only 10-15 minutes a day to help maintain its longevity.
It's normal for slime to shrink over time as it loses moisture, especially depending on how often you play with it.
Certain ingredients like clay and instant snow can make some slimes shrink or deflate faster than others.
Clear slimes will get foggy over time due to the natural oils & skin cells on your hands.
Slime levels refer to how tacky and holdable a slime is.
Playing with slime without it sticking to you can be tricky, and takes practice. That's why we label slimes and suggest first-time buyers go for beginner slimes!
You can still buy an advanced slime, but you might have a tough time if you're not familiar with handling it. It could feel extra sticky, start melting, or get stuck to things.
